Does anyone positive how to get the top off a kenmore washer?

There are two screws on the prime... The top part with the controls... Depending on the age of the washer, they could be either in front or back. And a Kenmore, they may be under the plastic endcaps.... These screws are pointing partly down into the top... on the ends, but front or back... Base, hard to describe. Once you find them, and remove them....
