My kenmore washer won't work?

My electric top heap washer will fill with water but will not go through the rest of the cycles? I do not hear any humming. What is false, please help.

If you look at the back and the bottom and it has a swath, it's really, really old. It could be the belt has broken or it could be a sheave has seized. These things can be fixed but often factoring in the cost, it's cheaper to put back an older washer.

If it's within 10 to 15 years old, it probably won't have a thrash sing but a nylon
