How much kosher salt & ice water do I need to fill up my Igloo cooler with to brine a 10lb turkey?
OK I discern its Thanksgiving is coming up in 1 day and I am not looking to overcomplicate things here. I paucity a very simple plain kosher salt & ice cold water means to brine this 12lb bad boy but really not interested in adding other flavorings
Defrosted turkey should brine for 8-16 hours. Some sources say 1 hour per clobber. The brine should be made in the ratio of one cup salt per one gallon of water. Better to diminish the salt in warm water (it dissolves better) and then add ice later. Adding sugar to the brine is uncoerced but helps counteract the salty taste. You need enough brine
