ST-5 Water Heater Expansion Tank?

A plumber came today to fix something, and he told me that I miss to replace the water heater ST-5 expansion tank (I think it is 2 gallon bigness), since there is no air in there any more. The house was built in 2001. A friend of mine said he can do


You should be masterful to just buy a new one and screw the old one off. Amtrol is a good brand so you should be fine with that. Pore over the instructions for these tanks come preset from the factory. You wont need any other accessories except perchance teflon tape.

Using hot water coil to pre-heat Amtrol hot water heater - Coal ...

I was wondering whether it is more effectual to fill my Amtrol twisted fired water heater with water from my KA6 rather than common cold water from my well. Currently, as hot water is in use accustomed to, it is replenished with bleak water that in the course of time drops the temp in the Amtrol, creating a call for hotness from my boiler. It would seem to be more productive to re-way the distribute through my KA6's hot water coil, thus causing the Amtrol to be refilled with hot water. In other words, I would mark that it would take less BTUs (less coal) to heat the water as it runs through a hot water snake than to have to care for an unreserved tankful of water up to temperature. In other words, if the boiler is at temp and idling along, and I was using the hot water windings, would the boiler be less apt to "backlash on" than if it received a call for intensify from the hot water tank.
