Kenmore lint filter at top of washing machine. How to clean it?

The lint filter on my Kenmore washing contraption is located at the top circumference of the tub, up underneath the sheet metal chance. It is a plastic ring with holes and baffles in it.

I cannot access the holes to get out the lint and
